Lecture Announcement: Prof. Álvaro Rocha, University of Lisbon

At the invitation of the School of Transportation Science and Engineering , Professor Álvaro Rocha will visit Harbin Institute of Technology for academic exchange. During his visit, he will deliver a lecture on maturity assessment models and methods for intelligent transportation management systems. Faculty and students with research interests in intelligent transportation management, information system maturity assessment, smart city governance, and digital transformation are cordially welcome to attend.

Biography

Professor Álvaro Rocha is currently a Professor of Information Systems at ISEG, University of Lisbon, Portugal, and holds an honorary professorship at Amity University. He is a researcher at the ADVANCE Research Center for Management Studies. His long-standing research interests include information systems engineering and management, maturity models, management information systems, information systems quality, intelligent information systems, cybersecurity, e-government, e-health, and information technology in education. He has significant international influence in the fields of information science, information systems, and business informatics. Professor Rocha has been listed among the world's top 1% scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier, among the world's top 0.05% scientists by ScholarGPS, and has repeatedly been ranked among the top 1% scientists globally in relevant fields by ResearchGate. He has 398 indexed publications in the Scopus database and possesses extensive experience in university teaching, research project coordination, and international academic conference and journal management. He is a renowned scholar in the field of information systems engineering and management.

 

Abstract

This lecture focuses on maturity assessment models and methods for intelligent transportation management systems. It discusses how to systematically evaluate capabilities in urban traffic operation management, traffic sensing and data governance, collaborative control, public services, emergency response, and organizational governance from the perspective of information systems engineering and management. The presentation will introduce the fundamental concepts of maturity models, the construction of assessment dimensions, indicator system design, grade classification, evidence collection, and comprehensive evaluation methods. Drawing on typical issues in the development of intelligent transportation management systems, it will analyze the maturity differences among various cities and management departments in terms of technical capacity, data capacity, process capacity, and governance capacity. The report points out that maturity assessment can not only be used to judge the current level of system development but also help management departments identify shortcomings, clarify phased improvement pathways, optimize resource allocation, and promote the transition toward data-driven transformation, thereby providing a reference for planning, construction, and operational evaluation.
