    On March 13th, 2014, the faculty committee in School of Transportation Science and Engineering decided to hire Dr. Changjun Zhou as an assistant professor in Department of Road and Railway Engineering, who was a preserved faculty member before starting his Ph.D. program in United States.
    Changjun Zhou, born in November 23rd, 1983, enrolled in the Department of Road and Railway Engineering in Harbin Institute of Technology as an undergraduate student in 2003, earned his bachelor and master degrees there in 2007 and 2009. In 2010, he joined the Ph.D. program in civil engineering at University of Tennessee in United States, majored in Geotechnical and Materials, where he earned his Ph.D. degree in 2013.

Research Interests
(1)   Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Theory and Methodology based on Perpetual Pavement Concept;
(2)   Investigation on Paving Material Properties with Composite Theory and Micromechanics;
(3)   Management and Application on Long-Term Pavement Performance Data;
(4)   Investigation and Application on Environmental Friendly Paving Materials.

    During his Ph.D. program, Dr. Zhou published three Science Citation Index (SCI) journal papers and presented one conference poster paper at the annual meeting of Transportation Research Board (TRB), which is the most influential meeting in transportation engineering area internationally. He was highly involved in three research projects sponsored by Tennessee Department of Transportation. In addition, he was very active in attending international conferences during his study in United States. He is also the reviewer for several SCI journals and international transportation conferences including the annual meeting of TRB.
