The second Ph.D. student symposium on transportation was held in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

After the 1st international Ph. D. symposium on transportation had been successfully held by HIT last Dec., the 2nd international Ph.D. symposium on transportation was held by UIUC in the IHOTEL, Champaign, U.S.A. at Sep. 3rd to 4th, 2013. Prof. Imad Al-Qadi hosted the opening ceremony and Prof. Decheng FENG gave a welcome address on the ceremony.

Eighteen professors and fifty two Ph. D. students coming from HIT, UIUC, KTH, Northwestern University, Rutgers University, Mississippi State University, Minnesota State University, University of California Berkeley, and Texas A&M University attended the symposium this time.

Three professors and eight Ph.D. students from HIT attended this symposium and presented their works. Six outstanding presentations were selected this time. Xinming ZHANG was awarded as one of them.

The topics of this symposium covered the state-of-the-art areas including advanced pavement technologies, advanced transportation management and planning and transportation safety. The 3rd international Ph. D. symposium on transportation will be held by KTH in Sweden next year.
